Yeji Kim, a native of South Korea, has actively performed in the United States and Korea. Kim is currently an Adjunct Faculty at Dallas College in Texas. Kim has given many solo performances in the U.S. and Korea, including the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Indiana University Student Orchestra, Showcase Concert at Indiana University, the Ewha Rising Soloist Debut Concert at Ewha Womans University, and the Spring Music Festival in Youngsan Art Hall. As a chamber musician, she was a violinist of the Center for Chamber Music Studies at UNT and performed in a concert for the Dubinsky Chamber Music Series held by the Pacifica Quartet at Indiana University. She also won First Prize in the Sunhwa Chamber Music Competition in South Korea. She is a founding member of Dallas MusiK Society in Texas. She was a Concertmaster of the UNT Symphony Orchestra, principal violinist of the Red River Opera Festival Orchestra, Seoul Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, and a sectional violinist in Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra, Terre Haute Symphony, and Owensboro Symphony Orchestra. Kim began her violin studies at the age of seven and took professional violin lessons beginning at age 12. In Korea, she studied at Sunhwa Arts High School and received priority admission to the university as the best performer from Ewha Womans University where she earned her Bachelor’s degree. She moved to the United States in 2016 and studied with Kevork Mardirossian at the Jacobs School of Music, Indiana University. At IU, she earned her Master of Music degree with the Artistic Excellence Award in Violin Performance. Kim is a candidate for her Doctor of Musical Arts in Violin Performance at the University of North Texas, under the guidance of Prof. Philp Lewis. Her doctoral studies are supported by the Brock String Merit Scholarship, which is the most prestigious full scholarship at the College of Music.
